Second rower partner to Ron Costello at Canterbury. Costello was an Australia representative but Hornery often seemed to have a bigger impact on games. Very tough and skillful. Loved to watch him play. Unfortunately he was televised punching in a scrum at West and the silly incident probably detracted from his reputation.

It was channel 9's fault. The guy doing the replays kept going forward/backward - making the punching look far worse than it actually was. Ron Casey loved it!

Neville was a true general , intelligent , last man standing, gutsy
, and he was fearless. He could inspire fellow teammates , a true Leader . I recall a Home match at Kougari when Wynnum manly played against competition leaders Western Suburbs . Most expected a blowout score - yeah the Seagulls were at the bottom of the ladder . However as a School boy i witnessed an unforgetable match - if i recall corectly 36 to 10 . Neville was to me a magician. I Will never forget him …..!!!!!!…..
