Biography
Springwood local played in the P’matta juniors in 1964 before being graded by Balmain. Williams kicked the winning goal in the reserve grade grand final in 1965 but will be forever remembered as the sole try-scorer in the Tigers' 11-2 win over Souths in the 1969 grand final. A reserve in that match, Williams replaced George Ruebner for the second half and dived over in the corner to secure the upset win.

Sid Williams also scored the winning try for Balmain against the visiting Great Britain side .I think the game finished 9-8.

Sid was a highly skilled scrum half and always played with skill and the utmost effort. As a member of the Springwood club and a lifetime supporter of the Tigers I always remember Sid as a courageous and gifted inside back and sometimes wing three quarter.
