Biography

Member of a famous footballing family in England, Joe Grainey immigrated to Australia after several seasons with Leigh (1961-64). In 1974 he captained Mullimbimby to a grand final win in the Group 18 competition before retiring to the northern NSW town in 1976.

    THINK HE MAY HAVE PLAYED IN A WINNING GRAND FINAL FOR GUYRA IN 1969

    Joe Grainey was a sensational rugby league player for the Newtown jets who made 19 appearances and 2 tries, with a total of 6 points and he coached the Mullumbimby giants to a grand final win and Joe was also in two team of the century’s one for Guyra and one for Mullumbimby.
