Bob Landers & Boyce Beeton withdraw just before the game and where replaced by Gary Williams & Brian Devine.
Ken Ashcroft was sent off 8 minutes before halftime for scrum infringements then in the next scrum Bill Rayer was sent off for the same offence 5 mins later Nev Charlton was sent off for punching an opponent. Easts & spectators claim that it was a legitimate open hand fend and could see no reason for the send off.
Terry Fearnley was replaced just before halftime with an injured leg and replaced by Mike Hammond but Parramatta officials disputed it was a legitimate injury and protested the replacement.
