Match Notes

This game was scheduled to be played Saturday 10 July at the SCG but due to being played at the same time as the NSW v South Africa Rugby Union game at the Sports Ground and the expected violent demonstrations the NSWRL in the interest of public safety decided to defer the game and play a double header on Sunday at the SCG with Balmain v St.George game. The NSW v SA game was moved to the SCG on Police recommendation the expected demonstration resulted in 140 arrests.

John O'Neill was sent of 16 mins into the 2nd half for using a knee to the face of an opponent, this was his first game back from a 3 week suspension he was later suspended for another 5 weeks.

Bob McCarthy was replaced at halftime by Gordon Fraser due to a shoulder injury, George Piggins replaced Elwyn Walters with 18 mins remaining.

Barry Leaney dislocated his shoulder early in the 1st half and was replaced by Chris Dengate who midway through the 2nd half also injured a shoulder and was replaced by Dennis Mount.
