Les Bell was a late replacement for Bob Wear for Cronulla Dave Cotter moved to the centre and Bell onto the wing..

Graeme Bowen & Ken Maddision both withdrew from the St.George team on Thursday with rib and ankle injuries and were replaced by Brian Norton & Mick Dryden.

Brian Norton left the field 14 mins into the 2nd half with concussion and was replaced by Inosi Toga. Norton had earlier scored one of the best tries ever seen by a prop forward when he ran 80 yards to score.
