Match Notes
Penrith lost Peter Wright with flu & Terry Geary with a shin injury before the match they were replaced by Gary Harvey & Bruce Delaney.
Barry Phillis replaced Bill Noonan as Canterbury hooker early in the week, Terry Murphy & Les Perry dropped out late in the week and were replaced by Les Johns & Dennis Scahill, with Alan Burwell moving to 5/8, Inskip to wing, Strudwick to centre with Johns coming into fullback & Scahill to the centre.
In the 2nd half Gary Harvey suffered a fractured checkbone and was replaced by Paul Gibson, Ian McKechnie was replaced by Ray Steele due to a hamstring injury.
Ron Raper was replaced at halftime due to concussion by Ray Payne, Barry Phillis was sent off early in the 2nd half for repeated scrum infringements with Ron Costello moving to hooker. Denis Manteit left the field with a broken nose & possible cheekbone fracture midway through the 2nd half and was replaced by Norm Thomas.
