Biography

The sight of the tall, bald-headed Newtown centre making yet another determined break was a familiar one for rugby league fans during the late 1960s and early 1970s. ‘Chicka’ Moore was graded from Souths’ junior league in the early 1960s and represented NSW as early as 1963. He was a popular selection on the 1967-68 Kangaroo Tour where he played in 11 minor games and finishing as leading try-scorer with 10 tries. Moore's last appearance for NSW was in 1970 and after captaining the Blue Bags in his final years as a player, it was only fitting that he coached Newtown in the final season of the NSWRL (1983).

Is Brian the father of Danny Moore who played for Manly in the 1990's?
If he is I'm loking forward to meeting him next week at a family get together.

Sad to see passing of Chicka. I played on the wing outside him at Macquarie United in Newcastle in 1974. A great man and player. He was my idol when I was young and was proud to be in his team. Always remember his gate when he ran. RIP Chicka.

I knew Chicka when he played for Souths. He, and I, went to Gardeners Road Secondary School at Roseberry and I was a friend of his sister. He was a very talented player from a young age, and if I remember correctly, he played for Souths at age 17.
