Len Stacker

Coaching Career

Biography

Goal-kicking P’matta winger spent three seasons with Brisbane Norths (premiers 1969) before returning to the Eels as a lower grade coach in the 1970s. Stacker took P’matta's reserve grade side to premiership success in 1977 before joining Penrith for three troubled seasons (1979-81). Passed over by Penrith Chief Executive Charlie Gibson in favour of John Peard, Stacker spent the 1983 season with battlers Wests before returning to Penrith to coach the club's lower grade teams in 1989-90. Stacker took over as coach of St Marys after Royce Simmons went to Hull in 1982 and maintained the role of assistant to coach during Simmons’ time as Panthers’ first grade coach (1995-01).
